Available content types in Bolt
This tutorial will review the different content types available in Bolt and how to use them. The process is incredibly simple and sophisticated at the same time.
First and foremost, you will have to log into the administrative dashboard of your website. You will notice a section called Content on the left-side menu. It contains the different content types that you can create on your website.
If you look just next to this section on the right, you will notice a message. At the beginning, when you install Bolt, there will be no content on your website, so the system will notify you about that. If you are a Bolt novice, it will be easier to install demo content on your website, so you can poke around and get a better understanding of the structure.
No matter if you wish to add demo content or not, you will still be able to add more, or manage the existing content on your website. As a CMS system, Bolt offers full control over that. The three default content types that Bolt comes prepacked with are:
- Page - This is a content type that contains the fields and specifications for a generic page. To add such a content type, move your mouse pointer over the Pages left-side item and then click on the New Page button.

Entry - This is a generic template for an article. It resembles a simple blog post that you can publish on your website. To create this content type, move your mouse pointer over the Entries tab on the left-side menu and then select the New Entry option.

Showcase - This is a content type used to showcase how you can use the predefined field types. A content type used to showcase how you can use the predefined field types. To create such, move your mouse pointer over the Showcases tab and then click on New Showcase.

How to create pages in Bolt
This tutorial will review the process of adding new pages on your Bolt website. This is easy and you can publish content with ease.
To start the process, you need to log into the administrative area of your website. Move your mouse pointer to the Pages tab on the left-side menu and then click on the New Pages option.
The system will open up the creation form for the new page. There are three main tabs with data that you will have to fill in. They are:
- Content - Enter the title of the page, image, teaser text, actual body of the page and the template you will use for it. There are pre-defined templates that will change the behaviour of the new page.
- Taxonomy - Choose the taxonomy options for the new page. This will group certain pages together, according to your preferences.
- Meta - The meta tab contains details such as page ID, status, date, author and more.
When you are ready with the changes on your new page, click on the Save Page button. After that, you will be informed that the page has been successfully saved, and the content type will now be displayed on your website.
How to create entries in Bolt
This tutorial will review the process of creating entries on your Bolt website. An entry is like a new blog post on your website and will allow you to add different types of content on it. The process is easy and we will review it for a better understanding of how it works.
First, you need to log into your website as administrator. Move your mouse pointer over the Entries option on the left-side menu and then click on New Entry.
There are five pre-defined tabs that will allow you to configure the new entry per your needs. They are:
- Content - It will allow you to add a title, permalink, teaser and body of your new entry.
- Media - Specify an image or a video for the new entry.
- Relationships - This tab will allow you to link the new entry to an existing page of your website. If you have any pages, you can select them from the drop down box.
- Taxonomy - The taxonomy tab will allow you to group certain entries together, according to your needs. You will also be able to specify tags for them.
- Meta - Set meta options for the new entry, such as date, status, publisher, etc.
When you are ready with all of the information for the new entry on your Bolt installation, simply click on the Save Entry button to keep the changes. The new entry will be displayed on your website successfully.
