Abuse, Spamming, Phishing, and Hacking
Due to the nature of abuse reports, our Abuse department must be contacted directly via ticket and resolved through the ticket process. Frequently Asked Questions
Before you submit an abuse complaint, Please check and ensure that you obtain the correct records of the domain registration and web host for the entity. To define the IP address associated with the domain name, go to https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/dig/#A and to check the returned IP address at https://whois.domaintools.com to obtain the contact details of the hosting provider.
There are abuse cases which we may be unable to take a direct action. If, for example, it rests with a different host, and we are unable to verify the complaints, we may not take any action in order to avoid a false positive. This policy particularly affects copyright/DMCA, email abuse/spam, fraud, malware/hacking activity, etc.
In a situation where a domain is registered by us but we are not providing the hosting service, or vice versa, we recommend that you use the Whois link to check the hosting company and forward the complaints to them accompanying your submission with all relevant data.
In a case where the domain is protected by our whois privacy, simply click on the email link shown in the records and submit your complaints, we will forward it to the proper destination.
Not necessarily. While we address all complaints properly in line with our policies and those of our partners and registrar, we do not necessarily report back to the complainant on the actions we took to resolve a matter. However, we give adequate attention to all complaints and properly investigate the complaints and act appropriately.
Please go through our terms of service to find the list of what Todhost considers unacceptable.
Generally speaking, we process complaints within 48 hours. However, we cannot always guarantee that we will treat all cases within that time frame. Some cases could take longer time to process.
Absolutely yes. However, because the information needs to be verified with clear documentation, we will still require that you submit a proper ticket or email entry to report an abuse.
The recommendation is that while you do a properly report an abuse by making the right submissions, you can use the live chat to speedily draw our attention to the issue and escalate a resolution.
We give priority to reports from law enforcement agencies. If you represent a law enforcement agency, please submit your abuse complaint to law-enforcement@todhost.com.
N/B: If you are not a law enforcement officer, do report abuse using this channel. Abuse reports through this channel coming from people who are not law enforcement agencies will not be processed.
If a domain is penalized for an abuse, would you allow a transfer to a different host and registrar?
This will depend on the nature of the abuse. For example, a domain that is engaged in phishing and mimics another business entity such as a bank will not be eligible for a transfer. We will simply blacklist such domain. It cannot be registered on our network and we will take every action necessary to ensure it does not continue to scam the public.
